Puerto Antioquia is now operating after a delivery chain spanning Jan De Nul's 2.2 million cubic metres of capital dredging, COTEMA's turnkey marine and civil EPC, MIIT's bulk-area EPC and a four-vessel readiness programme. The 1,340-metre offshore berth platform is connected to 38 hectares of onshore logistics area by an approximately 3.2-kilometre piled viaduct. Commercial operations started on 5 February 2026, and the live port-status register shows repeat calls by major liner and refrigerated services.

Contract route
Puerto Antioquia signed the main turnkey EPC with COTEMA in 2020, reached financial close in 2021 and issued notices to proceed to construction and dredging contractors in February 2022. Construction started in April 2022. The owner separately identifies Jan De Nul for capital dredging and MIIT for the bulk area. Several downstream subcontracts and equipment packages remain unallocated in public disclosures.
Execution window
Capital dredging finished in July 2022. COTEMA's pile-driving programme began in August 2023 and completed more than 1,000 steel piles by May 2025. Four controlled vessel trials were complete by 24 January 2026; commercial operation began on 5 February 2026. Current port-status records show repeated arrivals and departures through July 2026.
Works package
Deliver a multipurpose offshore marine terminal with approximately 1,340 metres of berth frontage and five berthing positions; deepen the platform area to an operating draught of 16.5 metres; build an approximately 3.2-kilometre, three-lane piled viaduct; develop a 38-hectare onshore logistics terminal; and integrate container, refrigerated, bulk, general, ro-ro, inspection, power, security and digital operating systems. HHMC supplied three STS cranes rated by the owner at 80 tonnes and 54 metres lifting height.
Marine interfaces
The capital-dredged berth area, offshore deck, more than 1,000 long steel piles, viaduct beams and slabs, fenders, bollards, navigation controls and terminal systems had to pass controlled vessel manoeuvres before trade-port authorisation and commercial release. Repeat calls in the live port ledger provide stronger operating evidence than the earlier planned 2025 start date.
Commercial evidence boundary
The owner identifies the principal package chain and maintains a current vessel ledger. COTEMA, Jan De Nul and MIIT are confirmed assignments; recurring liner calls confirm use. Final contract values, package-level acceptance certificates, remaining crane and automation suppliers, downstream subcontract allocation, defects-liability work and sustained throughput by cargo type remain undisclosed.
