Frequently asked questions

Is IMWO a news website or a project database?

IMWO combines source-linked project records with analysis. The tracker identifies assets, packages, parties, dates and current delivery state; briefs explain material procurement, construction and operating changes.

Who is the site for?

Marine contractors, consultants, suppliers, developers, public clients, investors, insurers, and business development teams working in marine construction.

How is the intelligence different from maritime news?

IMWO follows the engineering scope, procurement package, named delivery roles, dated milestones and evidence needed to confirm completion or operating performance.

Which port and harbour works does IMWO cover?

Coverage includes quays, berths, terminals, breakwaters, navigation channels, capital and maintenance dredging, reclamation, marine access, port utilities, repair programmes, and specialist packages where the public evidence supports a named project record.

Which water and wastewater marine works does IMWO cover?

Coverage includes desalination and cooling-water intakes, treated-water and wastewater outfalls, marine pipelines, diffuser systems, shoreline crossings, pumping and treatment-plant interfaces, and the survey, dredging, tunnelling, installation, testing, and commissioning packages tied to those systems.

Does a tracked project mean a contract has been awarded or construction has started?

No. IMWO separates planning, procurement, award, mobilisation, construction, commissioning, and completion. Each record states its current phase, evidence date, and source confidence so an early study or tender notice is not presented as a contract award or active construction.

How does IMWO qualify project and company records?

Each material claim is tied to an identifiable source and confidence level. IMWO separates the owner, designer, contractor, supplier and operator; keeps programme, package and asset scope distinct; and does not turn an expected date into an achieved milestone.

Can owners, contractors, suppliers, or consultants submit information?

Yes. IMWO accepts project signals, organization profiles, performance notes, editorial tips, and correction requests through the submissions page.

How are corrections handled?

Corrections should include the page or record, requested change, supporting evidence, organization represented, and contact details. IMWO reviews corrections before changing public records.

Does IMWO currently offer membership?

No. IMWO does not currently operate a membership programme or application route. The Project Tracker, Intelligence, Directory, reports, resources, RSS feed and standard CSV exports are available without an account.

Does IMWO give awards or recognition?

Yes. IMWO has established five awards for projects, asset performance, specialist engineering, coastal and waterfront resilience, and professional knowledge. The inaugural cycle is not open: no jury, nominations, candidates, finalists or recipients have been announced.

Can sponsorship or partnership influence recognition or editorial coverage?

No. Partnerships, sponsorship, membership, advertising, or directory participation do not guarantee coverage, profile ranking, shortlist status, recognition, or favourable wording.

Where are data exports and templates?

The resources page collects CSV exports, submission templates, policies, source rules, and the public RSS feed.
