Dredging Delivery
Kuala Baram reaches 69% on a channel-and-training-bund job
Bukit Saban via Dredging Today; Kuala Baram project inspection in December 2024
Sarawak Rivers Board says the Kuala Baram Delta access project reached 69% overall progress at 30 June. The package combines about 1.26 million m3 of dredging with two 6 km rock training bunds, a temporary material facility and navigation controls at the river mouth.
Overall progress reached sixty-nine percent
The 8 July Rivers Board record controls the 69% overall figure at 30 June and the three-point programme lead. The April Public Works Department record supplies the prior 55% point. The May 2025 Rivers Board site review supplies the channel geometry, dredging and stone quantities, temporary material facility and navigation controls. The September 2024 Ministry of Infrastructure and Port Development record supplies the RM208.9 million value, named joint venture and March 2027 baseline; the October 2026 date is a later government target, not treated here as a proven contract amendment. No cited source supplies accepted channel depth, final bund length, reconciled quantities or operating release.
Channel depth depends on bund and logistics close-out
Channel depth is only one part of the opening test. The channel can reach its target depth and still remain unavailable if bund reaches, stone logistics, traffic controls, navigation aids or hydrographic acceptance are incomplete. The 69% figure needs a package-level breakdown to show what remains.
Evidence conclusion
Work-package quantities must replace one percentage
The dated progress sequence is moving: 55% on 25 April and 69% at 30 June. What is missing is a work-breakdown structure behind those percentages. A complete owner update would state dredged quantity, completed bund length, stone placed, temporary-facility status and survey results. Until then, the project remains active construction rather than a channel-opening or completion record.
Outstanding evidence
- Dredged quantity against the 1.26 million m3 basis
- Completed length of the north and south training bunds
- Stone supply, barge handling and quantity reconciliation
- Temporary material facility operation and removal plan
- MTRA compliance and navigation-buoy status
- Post-dredge survey and accepted -5 m CD channel
- Formal completion date and operating release
