Profile summary

Bahrain's Electricity and Water Authority plans, procures and operates the country's electricity and water infrastructure. At Hawar, it is the owner and client for a new SWRO scheme divided into three EPC tenders: the treatment plant, offshore intake and outfall, and storage tanks with forwarding pumps. That division makes EWA the main interface owner across the marine works, plant process, storage and operating network. The public procurement record shows bids under evaluation, not awarded construction contracts.

Directory profile status

This public profile is a maintained directory record, not an endorsement, ranking, procurement recommendation, partnership confirmation, or claim of current availability. The evidence-review date records when IMWO checked the profile's public sources; it is not an organization event date. Use the profile for market mapping and research, then carry out separate technical, legal, and commercial diligence.

Source basis

EWA's official pages establish its national electricity-and-water remit and describe Hawar SWRO as a future project with 1 MIGD initial production and two 1 MIG storage tanks, all expandable. Tender Board records divide delivery into separate marine, treatment-plant and storage-and-pump EPC packages. The two marine bids opened on 25 December 2025 remain procurement evidence only: an opened and accepted bid is not an award, and neither bidder should be described as contractor. The one-year marine tender duration is not a construction date. EWA's official Hawar electricity-project imagery provides island context only and is not evidence of SWRO construction. No reviewed source establishes award, notice to proceed, final offshore geometry, marine mobilisation, installed intake or outfall, first water or operating acceptance.
