Role in marine infrastructure

Kiribati's Public Utilities Board operates water and sewerage services in South Tarawa. That makes PUB the long-term custodian of the Betio, Bairiki and Bikenibeu systems rebuilt under the completed ADB programme, including the network and pumping interfaces that feed three ocean outfalls. MISE remains the implementing agency for the later World Bank sanitation project, while PUB carries the operating, maintenance and service-delivery role.
