South Tarawa sanitation and three-ocean-outfall rehabilitation
South Tarawa's ADB-financed sanitation programme rehabilitated sewerage and saltwater systems and rebuilt three ocean outfalls serving Betio, Bairiki and Bikenibeu. ADB's completion report records the outfall package awarded on 29 July 2016, civil work completed in August 2018, testing and commissioning in Q2 2019, and whole-project physical completion on 31 December 2019. The same report keeps delivery and outcome separate: the infrastructure was complete, but access and water-quality indicators were only partly achieved, and ADB's independent validation later rated the project less than successful.

ICB02 was awarded on 29 July 2016, outfall civil work was completed in August 2018, testing and commissioning followed in Q2 2019, and whole-project physical completion was recorded on 31 December 2019. ADB's completion and validation records also separate contractor delivery, system commissioning, service coverage, water quality and institutional sustainability.
