Role in marine infrastructure
Morocco's Ministry of Equipment and Water is the national department responsible for ports, the maritime public domain, roads, water and meteorology. Its Directorate of Ports and Maritime Public Domain develops port policy, commissions new port and maritime infrastructure, administers and protects the maritime public domain, and exercises technical functions in hydrography, nautical charts, navigation marking, port operating documents and port-security compliance. Dakhla Atlantic Port is a current owner-side example: the Ministry is the disclosed client for a new offshore port built around a 6.75 km breakwater, 2.96 km of quays, dredging, reclamation and a marine access viaduct.
