Nauru Maritime and Port Authority has statutory control of Nauru's ports and manages the country's primary maritime gateway at Aiwo. Its remit covers port facilities, navigation, pilotage, safety, security and environmental control. For the climate-resilient port redevelopment, the Government of Nauru and Ministry of Finance remain the public project and grant counterparties; NMPA is the port operator, operating stakeholder and long-term asset custodian. China Harbour Engineering Company holds the main works contract, while ADB and the Green Climate Fund finance defined project scopes.
