The Public Transport Authority of Western Australia is a statutory body corporate and an agent of the State. The Public Transport Authority Act 2003 gives it the main function of providing safe and reliable public passenger transport directly or through contracted parties, together with powers to acquire, construct, improve, maintain and manage property and to contract for delivery. PTA's current remit covers metropolitan rail, bus and ferry services under the Transperth brand and the design, construction and maintenance of public transport infrastructure. Its fleet page identifies three ferries on the 1.5-kilometre Elizabeth Quay-Mends Street service, with 844 weekly summer trips and 412 weekly winter trips. Captain Cook Cruises is the published ferry operator, not PTA itself. For PROPTA25042, PTA and Transperth are the owner-side clients, Programmed Facility Management conducted the procurement on their behalf, and Maritime Constructions holds the AUD 1,756,143 platform-and-gangway design-and-construct award. The award does not establish commencement, fabrication, installation, commissioning or handover.
