DEME will transport and install the 69 monopile foundations for Zeevonk's first 1 GW phase. Its contract also covers steel marshalling, intermediate monopile transport and a filter layer for scour protection. The owner still has to disclose the port, vessel spread and offshore start.

What changed

DEME's 20 July 2026 release confirms intermediate monopile transport, marshalling of primary and secondary steel, transport and installation of 69 monopile foundations, and a filter layer for scour protection. Vattenfall's project page places phase 1 at 1 GW with delivery planned for 2029. The separate TKF award covers cable design, manufacture, testing and delivery, not installation. RVO confirms the permit holder and amended permit status. The foundation marshalling port, installation vessel, fabricators, offshore start and acceptance regime remain unpublished.

Why it matters

The award ties four jobs into one installation chain: receive the steel, marshal it, move the monopiles offshore and put the foundations and filter layer in place. That makes the eventual port and vessel plan more than a logistics footnote. It will determine how 69 very large components move from fabrication yards into a North Sea installation campaign scheduled to support 2029 delivery.

What remains open

This is a contract award, not evidence of offshore progress. DEME has the foundation installation scope, but the release does not assign a vessel or name a marshalling base. The cable picture is also incomplete: TKF will supply about 162 km of 66 kV inter-array cable, while the installer remains unnamed. Fabrication allocation, port selection, vessel mobilisation and the first foundation will mark the move from contract award to offshore campaign.
