Aktau splits its berth works from the dredging that unlocks them

Aktau Port has three disclosed EBRD procurement lines for berth design-build works, cargo-handling equipment and supervision. The non-technical summary identifies a fourth delivery line outside that financing: three-phase dredging is essential to vessel access but is being implemented separately by the port.
One programme exposes four different control lines
EBRD's current project page establishes financing and the berth-and-crane objective. Its 2025 non-technical summary establishes the berth, rail, reclamation and associated-dredging boundaries. ECEPP and Aktau Port notices establish three current procurement lines and their deadlines. No cited award names a works, equipment, supervision or dredging contractor.
Associated dredging is the critical external interface
A berth award alone will not make Berths 3 and 12 operational. The quay structures, rail and reclamation must converge with equipment commissioning and a separately procured dredging campaign. Reporting them as one contract would hide the most important access and acceptance dependency.
Evidence conclusion
All four delivery lines remain open
The design-build tender closed only its first stage on 17 April, and no public works award was identified as of 2 August 2026. The supervision tender remains open to 28 August and the equipment supplier is also unnamed. The EBRD environmental record says the exact dredging start was not officially confirmed and divides excavation into Zones A and B, then B, then C. Each chain needs its own award, mobilisation and completion evidence before the 240,000 TEU outcome can be treated as deliverable.
