Ghubrah III construction targets Q1 2027 operation
Savener; exact Ghubrah III intake-building IFC design, not a construction progress image
Nama PWP still targets Q1 2027 commercial operation for Oman's 300,000 m3/day Ghubrah III plant. The four-line marine system is well defined on paper, but current public updates do not say how much of the intake and outfall network has been installed or accepted.
What changed
Nama PWP's latest annual report lists Ghubrah III under construction with scheduled commercial operation in Q1 2027. Its older 2023-2029 statement had placed 150,000 m3/day of early water in summer 2026 and full operation in the second half of 2026. PROES publishes the four FRP pipeline lengths, diameters and offshore structure depths. Savener records completion of the intake-building IFC design. GS Inima's 4 May 2026 safety update confirms a large active construction workforce but gives no marine installation quantities or completion claim.
Why it matters
Four offshore pipelines make this much larger than a single shoreline connection. The system includes two 1,246 m intake lines, two 1,493.92 m discharge lines, an offshore intake tower, a diffuser and a three-channel screening building. Together the lines total about 5.48 km. Any late tower, diffuser, tie-in or hydraulic-test issue can hold back first water even if the process plant looks advanced.
Decision read
What remains open
Keep the project in construction until the record moves from design geometry and site activity to installed and tested marine assets. The decisive documents will be as-built pipeline lengths and surveys, tower and diffuser placement, tie-in and hydraulic-test records, first-water evidence and Nama PWP's acceptance of commercial operation.
Next watchpoints
- Installed lengths and as-built surveys for the two intake and two discharge lines
- Intake-tower and diffuser placement and connection
- Screening-building, shore-crossing and pump tie-ins
- Hydraulic testing, flushing and wet commissioning
- First water and pre-commercial output
- Brine dispersion and receiving-water compliance
- Nama PWP acceptance of Q1 2027 commercial operation
