Hall Contracting; historical Port Douglas operation, not evidence of 2026 mobilisation

Maritime Safety Queensland plans to remove about 45,000 cubic metres from the Port Douglas Boat Harbour entrance channel between July and October 2026. A cutter suction dredge and temporary pipeline will carry the sediment to the Killaloe Dredged Material Management Facility while water quality is monitored.

What changed

MSQ's 14 July project page sets out the 2026 quantity, cutter-suction method, temporary pipeline, Killaloe route, water-quality monitoring and delivery window. Its current-project list places the work within the entrance and public channels of Dickson Inlet. The 2025 TMR statement is used only to show that Killaloe held material from an earlier campaign and was cleared before the next dredging. Hall Contracting's exact-location image and historical 55,000 m3 campaign are site history, not evidence of the 2026 contractor, plant, pipeline length or mobilisation.

Why it matters

The material chain is clearer than the commercial and acceptance record. MSQ has named the dredging method, approximate quantity, receiving facility and environmental control, but has not published the contractor, price, target levels, baseline survey or proof that the dredge has mobilised.

What remains open

The next status-changing evidence is a dated record that identifies the contractor and plant on site, then connects baseline hydrography, measured production, Killaloe receipts, water-quality results and post-dredge survey to owner acceptance. Earlier Port Douglas campaigns used a much longer pipeline and moved similar volumes, but those historical details must not be assigned to the 2026 package without a current contract or method statement.
