Burundi's implementing agency signed the Rumonge Port design-and-build contract with China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation on 27 July 2026 for USD 26.453 million. Contract 1893998 establishes the prime EPC relationship and procurement identity. Notice to proceed, site possession, approved design programme, supervision appointment, mobilised marine plant and first physical works remain unpublished.

The signed contract supersedes the procurement-plan estimate

Contract 1893998 controls CCECC's prime role, signature date, committed amount and procurement method. P174814 metadata controls programme status and closing date. The May 2025 procurement plan is a pre-award baseline, while the appraisal defines intended functions rather than final EPC design. No cited source establishes notice to proceed, approved design, mobilisation, executed quantities or lower-tier awards as of 5 August 2026.

Rumonge remains at award stage pending mobilisation

Rumonge combines lake access, pier geometry, cargo transfer, border controls and buildings in one package. Procurement data can establish who holds the prime contract and at what value, but it cannot show whether surveys, design reviews, temporary works, water-level assumptions or site access are ready.
