Blyth's GBP 100m wharf plan starts with a GBP 550,000 study

Port of Blyth has launched its Battleship Wharf expansion, but the funded work in hand is still the GBP 550,000 enabling stage. It covers ground investigation, a river-channel dredge assessment, reclamation feasibility, preliminary design and market work before any main marine-construction package.
Blyth has funded the early design work
Port of Blyth's current project page supplies the up-to-GBP-100-million value, three-hectare reclamation area, 310 m quay and revetment figure, deepening scope and no-dredge-zone treatment. Its 7 May launch establishes public launch but gave an earlier 260 m quay figure. The North East Combined Authority decision confirms its GBP 91,667 grant; the supporting report defines the GBP 550,000 enabling scope and schedule. No source cited here confirms construction procurement, final quantities or a start date for marine works.
The river channel controls the expansion
The scheme links three hectares of reclamation and a longer quay to a deeper river channel. That connection cannot be priced or permitted from the launch image alone. Ground conditions, dredge limits, contaminated material, reclamation containment and berth geometry will decide whether the port can move from a concept valued at up to GBP 100 million to buildable packages.

Construction still needs design approvals and capital
Port of Blyth and four funders have committed GBP 550,000 to the enabling work; no main construction contract has been awarded. Investigation results and the channel and berth design will determine dredging and fill quantities, treatment of the no-dredge zone and the consent route. Capital approval and marine-works procurement remain outstanding.
