Project rendering published by Saigon Port; not construction evidence

Ho Chi Minh City has approved Vietnam Maritime Corporation, Saigon Port and Terminal Investment Limited Holding as the investor for Can Gio International Transshipment Port. The plan covers about 571 hectares and 7.5 kilometres of main berths, with two to four berths in the initial stage and capacity for container ships up to 250,000 DWT.

What changed

The Ministry of Construction records the investor group, 571-hectare site, 7.5-kilometre main berth line, initial two-to-four-berth stage, 250,000-tonne vessel scale and 4.8 million TEU 2030 capacity target. The Ministry of Industry and Trade logistics portal links that selection to Decision 2155/QD-UBND and the earlier Decision 148/QD-TTg. Saigon Port records the consortium capital structure and launch event. A marine works contractor and construction mobilisation remain unannounced.

Why it matters

Investor selection puts a named development group behind one of Vietnam's largest proposed port schemes. Dredging and reclamation quantities, quay packages, a works contractor, environmental approval, land and water handover and physical mobilisation remain unannounced.

Decision read

The investor is named; the works packages are not

Can Gio has crossed the investor-selection gate, not the construction gate. The environmental decision, forest and water approvals, feasibility design and procurement plan should define the berth, basin, reclamation, dredging and access packages. Until then, the VND 128.873 trillion figure is a programme capital envelope and the 2030 capacity is a target, not an awarded marine scope or delivery forecast.
