Inis Oírr links a EUR 26.9m build to dedicated supervision
PUNCH Consulting Engineers; published Inis Oírr pier-extension layout
Galway's Inis Oírr delivery chain now has two attributable contracts: Ward & Burke at EUR 26.861255 million for the design-build marine works and PUNCH at EUR 1.271423 million for resident-engineering staff, alongside PUNCH's scheme-design and Employer's Representative roles.
Two awards define construction and control
Galway's capital-project return fixes price, dates, expenditure and the design/testing checkpoint. TED fixes the Ward & Burke framework result. The later eTenders/TED result fixes PUNCH's separate resident-engineering award. PUNCH's project page establishes its wider designer, Employer's Representative, project-management, cost-management and PSDP roles. The marine-notice register supports mobilisation, while downstream construction subcontractors remain unassigned.
Commercial layers now match delivery roles
The separate awards expose who delivers and who supervises the pier extension, concrete-armour breakwaters and rock dredging. They also prevent the EUR 35.75 million programme funding, EUR 40 million framework ceiling and exact construction-contract value from being collapsed into one misleading number.
Evidence conclusion
Mobilisation is the start of the evidence chain
The May 2026 marine notice is credible mobilisation evidence for a live island-harbour workfront, but it is not a progress certificate. No cited record yet names a dredging subcontractor, concrete-armour supplier, marine-plant provider or specialist installer. Detailed-design acceptance, produced quantities, as-built surveys and the September 2027 completion remain open controls.
Outstanding evidence
- Physical-model and detailed-design approval
- Named dredging plant and 2,500 cubic metres of rock removed
- Pier-extension concrete progress
- Outer and inner breakwater completion
- Concrete primary-armour production and placement
- Live ferry and navigation continuity
- As-built hydrography and formal 2027 handover
