Dredging
Kamarajar tendered 668,855 m3 of dredging around AECTPL
Kamarajar Port's INR 738.16 million tender combines 299,859 m3 in the proposed AECTPL Phase I Stage II berth pocket with 368,996 m3 across the existing AECTPL, EBTPL, GCB-II and approach areas. Bids closed on 16 March; the reviewed official notice does not identify an award.
What changed
The CPPP tender and BOQ establish the value, work period, excavation and dredging quantities, target levels, candidate plant and material routes. Kamarajar's current survey page establishes its IHO S-44 survey basis, operating berth depths and dredging controls. The published schedule ended on 16 March 2026, but an award, work order, mobilisation, production and accepted depth are not established.
Why it matters
The two dredging lines do not share the same destination. Material from the proposed berth goes to port land within 5 km, while the associated berth and approach dredging goes to Kamarajar's offshore disposal ground. The contract also carries 41,643 m3 of dry excavation and requires pre-, interim, post- and third-party surveys, so production, transport and accepted quantity have to be tracked separately.
Decision read
What remains open
The scope is clear; the winning contractor is not. The tender permits TSHD, CSD, backhoe or other suitable plant for sand, silt, clay, cobbles and isolated boulders, with -16.0 m CD targets in berth pockets and -16.5 m CD in approach and Phase VI areas. Until Kamarajar or CPPP publishes an award and work order, the 120-day period is only the proposed contract duration and none of the quantities is delivered.
