Boskalis completes Marsa LNG dredging as BESIX builds jetty
SOHAR project team; exact Marsa LNG jetty construction progress
Boskalis has completed approximately 3.8 million cubic metres of dredging for Marsa LNG's dedicated access channel, turning circle and berth pocket at SOHAR Port. BESIX remains in active construction on the LNG jetty, shore protection and drainage network, with current evidence showing piles and prefabricated beams rather than a completed berth.
Boskalis completed 3.8 million cubic metres of access dredging in April 2026
Boskalis' project case defines the approximately 3.8 million cubic metre dredging scope, vessels and turbidity controls; a 29 April 2026 completion report closes that package. BESIX's official award defines the jetty, shore protection and drainage scope, while current construction posts show piling and prefabricated beam installation. The ESIA controls the substructure and topsides boundary. A completed jetty, installed loading arms, berth acceptance, first cargo and commercial operation remain unconfirmed.
Jetty structure and LNG transfer systems remain under construction
The completed channel, turning circle and berth pocket provide the planned navigation geometry. LNG transfer still depends on the jetty structure, fenders and mooring equipment, utilities, Technip Energies' topsides, cryogenic lines, loading arms, safety systems, accepted hydrography and operating procedures.
Evidence conclusion
No complete-jetty, berth-acceptance or first-transfer record is published
Boskalis completed the dredging package, BESIX is constructing the jetty substructure, shore protection and drainage, and Technip Energies holds the plant EPC and jetty-topsides interface. Current records show pile driving and prefabricated beam installation. No cited source publishes structural completion, port-to-EPC handover, installed loading arms, berth acceptance or first LNG transfer.
Outstanding evidence
- Jetty pile, trestle, prefabricated beam and deck completion
- Shore protection, drainage and port utility handover
- Fender, bollard, navigation and mooring-equipment awards
- Technip Energies topsides interface and loading-arm installation
- Fire, gas, ESD and control-system integration
- Accepted hydrography, navigation approval and berth acceptance
- First LNG carrier or bunkering-vessel call and repeat operation
