Factual correction
A source-backed correction to a name, role, date, scope, measurement, or citation can be raised at any time. IMWO may correct the record without reopening the result where the merit decision is unaffected.
Recognition framework
Challenges and corrections
IMWO distinguishes a factual correction from a challenge to a Recognition decision. Research corrections remain open at any time. A formal challenge concerns a published Recognition result and is limited to material factual, conflict, or procedural grounds.
Formal challenge
An entrant or directly affected party may challenge a result within 21 calendar days of publication on one or more eligible grounds.
Recipient disclosure
A recipient must notify IMWO when a material error, withdrawal, sanction, incident, or later evidence undermines a claim relied upon in the citation.

Disagreement with professional judgement or a preference for another entry is not, by itself, a ground for review.
- Material factual error
- A demonstrably incorrect fact or record materially affected eligibility, scoring, or the published citation.
- Undisclosed conflict
- A relationship requiring disclosure or recusal was not properly identified or managed.
- Material procedural departure
- The published rules, evidence standard, scoring framework, quorum, or decision process was materially not followed.
- Material new evidence
- Evidence unavailable despite reasonable diligence at the time would probably have changed the result.
How a challenge is reviewed
A challenge must identify the result, the eligible ground, the disputed fact or step, and supporting records. IMWO first checks standing, timing, and completeness. An independent reviewer who took no part in the original assessment then examines the record, may request a response, and provides a reasoned recommendation.
Contact IMWOCorrect the citation
A factual or attribution error is corrected with a dated note while the result remains in place.
Re-assess
The affected criterion, entry, or category is returned to a non-conflicted jury for a documented new assessment.
Withdraw or replace
A result may be withdrawn where its basis is materially invalid. Replacement is not automatic and requires a valid assessment record.
Uphold
The result remains where the ground is not established or would not materially change eligibility, scoring, or citation.
Public record
A material correction, re-assessment, or withdrawal is dated and linked to the original citation. Personal, confidential, and legally restricted material is not published, but the public note states the nature and outcome of the review closely enough to preserve the integrity of the record.
