Ruwais LNG channel dredging reached round-the-clock operations
ADNOC Petroleum Ports Authority; marine notice JDR/MN/014/2025 map
NMDC Group's Ruwais LNG marine package covers about 15 million cubic metres of dredging along a 5-kilometre, 245-metre-wide access channel and new navigation aids. A February 2025 ADNOC port notice shows that phased dredging had entered 24-hour execution, with two offshore disposal sites, environmental buoys and a silt curtain. The disclosed trail ends before final hydrographic acceptance and marine handover.
Published scope and current milestone
NMDC Group defines the award value and core marine scope. ADNOC Petroleum Ports Authority notice JDR/MN/014/2025 confirms phased 24-hour dredging and maps the access channel, disposal areas and environmental controls. ADNOC's July 2026 update says the project remains under development for 2028 commercial operations and has 90% of planned capacity committed. The disclosed records do not state final channel depth, accepted hydrography, reconciled dredged quantity, disposal close-out, commissioned navigation aids or berth acceptance.
Dredging quantity and delivery implications
The marine package is not a footnote to the LNG plant. It controls whether large carriers can reach and use the export berth. It also sits outside the separate USD 5.5 billion plant EPC, so plant construction progress and LNG sales agreements cannot stand in for channel acceptance, navigation-aid commissioning or berth readiness.

Hydrographic acceptance and handover remain outstanding
Ruwais LNG has crossed two marine gates: contract award and documented field execution. Marine completion still depends on an accepted post-dredge survey, final quantity and disposal record, permanent navigation aids, jetty handover and port operating approval. Until those gates close, the 2028 start target remains a plant and commercial schedule rather than a confirmed vessel-service date.
