Montevideo inner-harbour and access-channel dredging campaign

Shanghai Dredging Company hopper dredger Hang Jun 4018 in Montevideo port waters in July 2026

Administracion Nacional de Puertos; Hang Jun 4018 during the July 2026 Montevideo campaign

Uruguay's National Port Administration has two dredging tracks under way at Montevideo. Shanghai Dredging Company's Hang Jun 4018 started in Darsena II and berth areas under Contract No. 2015, with the anteport and Darsena Capurro to follow. ANP's own Draga 9 returned to service in July and is working in the port and access channel.

Project anatomy

Contract scope and delivery roles

Client / authority
Administracion Nacional de Puertos (ANP)
Delivery parties
Shanghai Dredging Company (SDC) - contracted inner-harbour campaign, Administracion Nacional de Puertos (ANP) - public-fleet access-channel maintenance
Contract route
ANP's July campaign notice identifies Shanghai Dredging Company as the service provider under Contract No. 2015. Its April planning notice describes the wider open maintenance-and-correction contract as a 2018 award under LPI No. 20,428 to a consortium of SDC do Brasil and CHEC Dredging Co. Ltd., covering up to five campaigns. The public pages do not reproduce the executed contract or call-off document needed to reconcile every identifier and consortium role. Access-channel maintenance is being carried out separately with ANP's own Draga 9.
Execution window
The contracted sequence starts at Darsena II and berth areas, then moves to the anteport and Darsena Capurro. ANP announced the campaign on 17 July 2026 but did not state stage dates or final completion. Draga 9 returned to operation on 7 July after repairs and is already working in Montevideo port and its access channel.
Works package
Recover and maintain operating depths in Darsena II and berth areas, the anteport and Darsena Capurro with Hang Jun 4018, alongside public-fleet maintenance of the port and access channel by Draga 9. ANP's dredging portal publishes bathymetric records for the basins, anteport, access-channel reaches, Capurro, La Teja and disposal area.
Marine interfaces
The work runs through active berths, inner basins, the anteport and the access channel. Delivery depends on traffic windows, agreed operating depths, hydrographic control, coordination between contracted and public plant, disposal routing and the release of each working area back to port operations.
Commercial evidence boundary
The official campaign notice identifies the contractor, vessel and three-stage sequence but gives no contract sum, dredged quantity or payment basis. ANP's 2025-29 plan allocates USD 62,993,292 to dredging by public means and USD 51,924,555 to third-party dredging, within a total USD 114,917,847 dredging programme. Those figures define fleet-versus-contract capacity strategy; they are not the value of Contract No. 2015, LPI No. 20,428 or the July campaign.

Hang Jun 4018 started the contracted inner-port sequence

ANP placed Shanghai Dredging Company's vessel in Darsena II and berth areas, with the anteport and Darsena Capurro named as the next two stages. The release confirms work under way but not a completed stage or restored depth.

Source

Draga 9 returned to the public maintenance fleet

After almost three years out of service, the 3,000-cubic-metre vessel resumed dredging in Montevideo port and its access channel. Its return adds a second delivery track rather than closing the contracted inner-port campaign.
