Hamad Port food security terminal and warehouses
Hamad Port's QAR 1.6 billion food-security terminal has moved from a 2017 design-and-build award through an 85% milestone in 2020, a first equipment-delivery vessel at 93% in 2022, final-operations work in 2024 and an owner-reported 98% in June 2026. The 575-metre berth and ship-unloading interface are real, but full processing, storage, control, safety and operating-system acceptance remains open.

The owner-side visit confirmed advanced whole-project construction and technical installation, but also referred to remaining implementation stages and operational-readiness plans. The percentage is not a completion certificate, integrated commissioning record, operator handover or evidence of sustained food-cargo service.

The Ministry of Transport described final operations to equip the terminal with storage, packaging, transport and handling technology. This shows system integration remained active after the first equipment vessel and does not establish final acceptance or commercial operation.

The vessel call proved the berth could receive a heavy-lift equipment delivery and brought two Liebherr LHM 280 cranes to site. The owner called it a countdown to operation, so it must not be represented as first food cargo, terminal opening or accepted whole-system service.

The official update recorded uneven progress across rice, sugar and edible-oil facilities and said the project was targeted to become operational in the second quarter of 2021. Later 2022, 2024 and 2026 records show that target cannot be used as an achieved operating date.
