Project anatomy

Contract scope and delivery roles

Client / authority
Chennai Port Authority
Delivery parties
Indian Institute of Technology Madras - technical audit and detailed-engineering consultant; principal investigator Murali K, Construction contractor - no tender or award verified by 1 August 2026
Contract route
IIT Madras lists the owner-side consultancy as project IC24251239CPCPTXNTPHOC. The consultancy selection method and downstream construction procurement are not disclosed. A Chennai Port Authority tender or contract record must establish any future works route, bidder list and award.
Execution window
The IIT Madras assignment runs from 30 December 2024 to 31 December 2027. That close date belongs to the consultancy ledger and is not evidence of a construction completion date.
Works package
Technical audit of Berth 19A at North Quay and detailed engineering for construction of a new berth structure. The public assignment title does not define demolition, piling, deck, fender, bollard, utility, dredging or pavement quantities.
Marine interfaces
Berth 19A is the North Quay berth in Dr Ambedkar Dock. The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways' 2024-25 Basic Port Statistics records a 198-metre quay with 8.5-metre draft for passenger, general-cargo and liquid-bulk use. Engineering and construction packaging therefore need to address a live dock, berth-pocket access, cargo pipelines or utilities, vessel mooring and interfaces with adjoining quay operations.
Commercial evidence boundary
The INR 5.074 million figure is the sanctioned value of IIT Madras project IC24251239CPCPTXNTPHOC, not a berth-construction budget or contract award. A construction bidder, subcontractor, accepted price and mobilisation date have not been published.
