Project coverage
Benin / Port infrastructure / The port authority reports 69% physical progress and 72% overall progress, while its published 2021-2024 delivery period is no longer current
construction / Evidence reviewedEgypt / Deep-water ports and container terminals / Commercial operations began on 14 February 2026; the terminal is moving through its 2026 ramp-up and the 3.3 million TEU figure remains final design capacity
commissioning / Evidence reviewedGhana / Port infrastructure / PIDG capital committed; financial close and construction start still to be confirmed
financing / Evidence reviewedSenegal / Marine utilities / Plant remained under construction in February 2026; commissioning was expected later in 2026, while final marine handover evidence remains unpublished
construction / Evidence reviewedNigeria / Deep-water ports and container terminals / MSC signed a 45-year sub-concession and finalized the ITB/DEME EPC on 11 March 2026; the reviewed project sources do not record mobilisation
award / Evidence reviewedLiberia / Coastal infrastructure / The West Point revetment has an approved ESIA and March 2026 environmental permit; construction award, notice to proceed and physical start are not established
approval / Evidence reviewedWest Africa / Coastal infrastructure / ResIP 1 in finalisation; country work fronts and closing dates remain separate
construction / Evidence reviewedDemocratic Republic of the Congo / Dredging / Easydredge 2700XL building contract signed; no yard, trial, delivery, acceptance, or Congo River deployment milestone published
delivery / Evidence reviewedSão Tomé and Príncipe / Marine infrastructure / AfDB financing signed and three site-level safeguard packages disclosed; design-supervision and works awards remain unverified
financing / Evidence reviewedBurundi / Marine infrastructure / Ongoing at programme level; March 2025 remains the latest quantitative Phase I physical-progress baseline
construction / Evidence reviewedSenegal / Coastal infrastructure / Works active; EUR 3.5 million additional credit and a 30 June 2027 close are proposed
construction / Evidence reviewedMadagascar / Marine infrastructure / IDA financing signed; marine packages are planned, under review, pending, cancelled, or absent from the reviewed plan
approval / Evidence reviewedDemocratic Republic of the Congo / Deep-water ports and container terminals / Phase-one marine and terminal works are under way; the DRC government was still pressing for acceleration in May 2026, so the previously stated 2026 delivery and first-vessel dates remain targets rather than evidence of accepted operation
construction / Evidence reviewedSenegal / Deep-water ports and container terminals / Marine works and container-terminal construction are active; the access channel, reclamation, quay and terminal packages remain under delivery, while 2028 is a government operating target rather than an accepted opening date
construction / Evidence reviewedMorocco / Marine utilities / Construction active; common marine, tunnelling, and electrical systems remain on the path to the February 2027 first-phase target
construction / Evidence reviewedTunisia / Port infrastructure / Dredging contract signed; enabling and supervision sequence forming

PIDG joined Project Shiprite on 1 June with USD 9.7 million in equity and shareholder lending. The money fills the last reported gap in the USD 137 million Takoradi floating-dock scheme and clears a route to financial close. A close date, civil EPC, dock builder, notice to proceed and first marine work have yet to be announced.
Evidence updated
Port Autonome de Cotonou's live Terminal 5 page reports 69% physical progress and 72% overall progress. The same page still gives a 2021-2024 delivery period, so the percentages show unfinished construction but do not supply a current finish date. CHEC's marine scope includes a 350-metre breakwater extension and an 891-metre revetment protected by ACCROPODE II units.
Evidence updated
Damietta Alliance Container Terminals started commercial operations on 14 February 2026. The opening configuration has 1,670 metres of quay at 18 metres depth, 12 ship-to-shore cranes, 40 yard cranes and two operational rail lanes. The 3.3 million TEU figure remains the terminal's capacity after the final construction phase, not measured throughput.
Evidence updated
Eiffage recorded a 340 m seawater-intake microtunnel at Dakar's Mamelles desalination plant in July 2025. A February 2026 supervision visit still described the plant as under construction and expected commissioning later in the year. Final brine-discharge installation and marine acceptance remain unpublished.
Evidence updated
MSC has signed a 45-year sub-concession for Snake Island's new container terminal and appointed ITB Nigeria and DEME under an EPC contract. The geometry is specific; neither the operator nor the EPC team has published a start date or project-site mobilisation.
Evidence updated
WACA ResIP 1 is nearing its final phase across six West African countries. Its lagoon, shoreline, quay, dike, drainage and community packages run under different contracts and timetables, while Senegal is seeking a later closing date. A single regional completion figure would mask the sites still controlling delivery.
